District/Authority Awards

Each year the Ministry of Education designates a certain amount of funds for District/Authority Awards. This year SD83 has 54 awards for graduating students throughout our district. District/Authority Awards are not necessarily about academic excellence but rather outstanding achievement in certain areas such as:

  • Indigenous Languages and Culture
  • Fine Arts (Visual Arts, Dance, Drama, or Music)
  • Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies (Business, Technology, Home Economics, Information and Communication Technology)
  • Physical Activity (not limited to Physical Education)
  • International Languages
  • Community Service (Volunteering)
  • Technical and Trades Training (Carpentry, Automotive, Mechanics, Chef’s Training)

Reminders for the application process

Reference Letters
  • Two letters are required from members of the community/school or place of employment.  They cannot be written by family members.
  • Make sure you give ample time to those who are writing your reference letters prior to your application deadline.
Spelling & punctuation
  • Review your documents for correct spelling and punctuation.
  • Have a peer proof read your application prior to you handing it in.
Documentation
  • Make sure you have all the required documentation prior to handing in your application.  Some applications may vary on what is required.
